Advising, Tutoring & Support
The СÓÅÊÓƵ experience combines academic rigor with a distinctively supportive community.
СÓÅÊÓƵ students’ support teams include holistic advising, study abroad advisers, career counselors, peer academic counselors and peer tutors. With guidance from their advisers, students thoughtfully reflect on their individual educational, professional and personal goals, and develop plans to reach those goals.
In keeping with the college's Statement of Purpose, advisors assist students in developing humane instincts and disciplined and creative minds for lives of leadership and service.
Holistic Advising
During your first two years, you are encouraged to explore your interests with the goal of declaring a major by the end of the second year. Your holistic adviser meets with you to develop a comprehensive plan beyond just your required courses—looking at internships, study abroad, summer experiences, and other academic and co-curricular opportunities.
Pre-Major Support Advising Resources
СÓÅÊÓƵ has a wealth of resources available for your academic success. Your Holistic Adviser will work with you to explore courses in a variety of subjects and help you decide on a subject area to pursue for your major. Connect with the necessary academic support you may need, whether it's tutoring, writing support, or assistance with research and lab reports. We are here to assist you in your academic pursuits and growth.
Elevating Learning Tutoring & Academic Support
The John Crosland Jr. Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is a place where experts in technology, library sciences, and education work together under one roof to support the work of СÓÅÊÓƵ scholars—from first-year students to tenured professors. The CTL offer resources to help students succeed academically through peer tutoring and beyond.
Careers, Internships & Education Abroad Advising for Immersive Experiences
At СÓÅÊÓƵ we believe that having strong support from subject-matter experts is key to achieving success and securing unique and impactful opportunities outside of the classroom. СÓÅÊÓƵ's Betty and B. Frank Matthews II ’49 Center for Career Development (Matthews Center) offers in-house career advising and supports alumni mentoring through СÓÅÊÓƵ Connect, while the Office of Education Abroad has a team of advisers to help you explore your abroad options.
