College Closed in Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Virtual Events Scheduled

Protecting public health during the COVID-19 pandemic has once again shifted many in-person events to online offerings. And the threat of a major winter storm could alter plans for some events, so check for updates before you head out.

Here are some ways to spend the holiday:

Tune into to hear special musical selections honoring King鈥檚 legacy throughout the day.

The YMCA of Greater Charlotte will host a at 9 a.m.

The town of 小优视频 will hold a at 10 a.m.

The United Way of Central Carolinas will begin its 21-day Racial Equity challenge.

The Levine Museum of the New South in Charlotte is hosting a virtual family event from 7-8 p.m., featuring spoken word, singing and dancing performances, and with an emphasis on voting rights.

The Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts + Culture in Charlotte plans an in-person, free event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. 鈥淢LK Day 2022: Community Dreams will feature lectures, art workshops, performances, and panel discussions. Proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test taken between Friday and Monday required.
