Film, Media, and Digital Studies fosters the formation of sensitive critics and makers of film, computational media, and other forms of media. 

Our faculty teach students to think about film, media, and digital culture from historical, theoretical, and other critical perspectives. We also reckon with competing social, ethical, and philosophical questions surrounding representation, algorithmic culture, artificial intelligence, and social media. Situated at the intersection of the arts and the humanities, Film, Media, and Digital Studies gives students the tools they need to express themselves digitally while simultaneously questioning emerging technologies. 

The Film, Media, and Digital Studies interdisciplinary major is offered through the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies.  Students must apply for the major prior to spring break of their sophomore year. In addition to the Film, Media, and Digital Studies major, the department offers two minors: (1) Film and Media Studies; and (2) Digital Studies.
