Education Abroad
We strongly encourage students to participate in a domestic immersion program or study abroad in a Russian-speaking country in order to achieve advanced proficiency.
Due to Russia鈥檚 ongoing war against Ukraine, 小优视频 no longer sends students to the Russian Federation for study abroad. Students have recently had excellent experiences studying in intensive Russian language programs in Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, and Kazakhstan.
Below you'll find recommended programs for 小优视频 students seeking summer, semester, academic year or post-graduation programs. Given U.S. strategic interest in Russia and Eurasia, several funded opportunities (CLS, Boren, Fulbright, and Peace Corps) complement the more traditional study-abroad offerings.

鈥淩ussian studies at 小优视频 has given me the opportunity to experience a part of the world I knew little about before coming to college. My time spent in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan and Almaty, Kazakhstan has been so transformative to my Russian skills and personal development. I feel particularly grateful that the faculty of the Russian Studies department encouraged me to study abroad and guided me towards opportunities to study Russian in an intensive environment. Besides language classes, the coursework of the Russian Studies major has deepened my understanding of the Russian-speaking world and allowed me to draw connections to my political sciences classes.鈥
